Venezuela earthquake survivor rescued after eight days
A Venezuelan security guard was pulled alive from a collapsed building basement eight days after twin earthquakes struck the country, in what officials and media are calling a miracle. The rescue came as search efforts were winding down and hopes had largely faded. The quakes caused widespread destruction across parts of Venezuela.
The Vatican has excommunicated the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX), an ultra-conservative breakaway Catholic group, along with its bishops and priests, after they defied repeated warnings from Pope Leo. The move formalizes a schism and warns followers who remain with the group that they too face excommunication. The SSPX has long rejected the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.
Russia launched one of its largest attacks on Kyiv in recent months, combining drones and missiles in a massive assault that killed more than 20 people.
